Lebron James Elects to Join the Miami Heat

Lebron’s Decision

The controversy over Lebron James deciding what team he will play for next year is now over. He will be joining the Miami Heat and playing alongside fellow super stars Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. The reason behind Lebron’s decision was simply because he feels that he has a better chance to win a championship with other great talent surrounding him.

Many felt that the Chicago Bulls or the New York Knicks would have been a better fit for him, but who could blame him for uniting with a now superior franchise. I mean just think back a few years ago when Kevin Garnett joined the Boston Celtics in the 2007-2008 season and became the “Big 3” with Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. That same year they went on to win the NBA Finals.  And that’s exactly what Lebron James plans on doing in Miami with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh this year.

This is what Lebron had to say during his special announcement on EPSN:

“I can’t say it was always in my plans, because I never thought it was possible. But the things that the Miami Heat franchise have done, to free up cap space and be able to put themselves in a position this summer to have all three of us, it was hard to turn down. Those are two great players, two of the greatest players that we have in this game today.”

Cleveland’s Response

As for Cleveland’s reactions, when word got out about Lebron James choosing not to stay with the Cavaliers, they were infuriated. Many feel that Lebron has betrayed the people of Ohio by leaving and some people were even seen burning his #23 jersey. While Lebron has no control over the people’s responses to his actions, he did say that feels bad for not being able to bring them a championship and that Akron will always be home to him. You can be assured though that he will probably never be welcomed in Cleveland again because of his decision to leave the people of Ohio and the Cavs organization. 

Dream Come True or Future Letdown?

Now that the Miami Heat has the newly acquired “Big 3” they have also put an extremely big weight on their shoulders. With that much talent on just one team, expectations are higher than ever for the Miami franchise. They have become the team to beat in the NBA this year with the addition of Lebron James and there couldn’t be any more excitement in the city of Miami. Only time will tell if the Heat will rise to the occasion and if Lebron, Wade, and Bosh wil be able to coexist together on the same team or possibly suffer the worst disappointment in NBA history.

As you already know,  Barrack Obama was elected in 2008 and is the first ever black president of the United States of America. Now that we have finally broken the race boundary, let’s shift to gender for a moment.

Obama Speaks While Student Sleeps

Occasionally, guest speakers make their way into schools all around the world. Most are just motivational speakers or fellow teachers and professors who aim to inspire and encourage students to excel in school and to also shine outside of the classroom as educated young individuals. Many of these visits are followed by long speeches, which in general, can be pretty boring sometimes. But what happens when the guest speaker is the president of the United States?

The Chosen One

Kalamazoo Central High School is an urban school in Michigan. Kalamazoo Central has come a long way in reference to its success rate of students’ continuing education after their senior year. In 2006, 91% of its students have been reported to attend college for at least one semester after graduating. A huge part of that accomplishment is due to the school’s program called the Kalamazoo Promise, which gives scholarship money to graduating students of Kalamazoo Central who attend in-state universities and colleges.

The contest was a Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge and the prize was to have President Barrack Obama speak at graduation. K-Central triumphed over more than a 1,000 schools in the United States after being hand-picked by Obama himself to win this honor.

One Memorable Evening

On Monday June 10, President Obama fulfilled his obligation and made a special appearance at Kalamazoo Central to personally congratulate them on their divine success and to also give words of wisdom. As a unique privilege, the school’s choir was seated directly behind Obama during his address. However, while Obama was speaking about the importance of hard work and education, a member of the choir was seen yawning and eventually falling asleep. It was not long before this student gained some serious exposure on Twitter and Facebook for his unforgettable doze at this honored event.

I guess to some people, when you get a once in a lifetime visit from the president of the United States, even if it’s the first black president in history, sleep still remains number one lol.

I think it would be too easy to take the challenge that Mickael Pietrus did. Especially for $17,000 so I’m making a twist to it.

Mickael Pietrus Wins $17,000 Bet On His Hair!

A quick review on Mickael Pietrus

Mickael Pietrus came to the NBA from his native home of Guadeloupe of France. He was born in 1982 and is listed at 6’6. He first started out with the Golden State Warriors in 2003 and then came to the Orlando Magic in 2008. Pietrus is also known as “Air France” and “Puma”.

The Bet

As if NBA players didn’t make enough money as it is, they have the ability to go on wild spending sprees or make huge side bets without thought or consideration. Quite frankly, why do they have to care? With all that income that they make every year playing in the league it must feel pretty good to be financially secure and be able to buy whatever you want to. Besides how much the wages are actually worth, they are mostly done for pure fun.

As far as this bet goes, Pietrus made a wage against his fellow teammates Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, and Jameer Nelson during the beginning of the 2009-2010 regular season. The fact that the bet was for $17,000 wasn’t that much of a surprise, it was the bet itself, hair! Pietrus had to go a whole season without a haircut and the money would be his. It’s unknown how much each of the three opposing players wagered but it turns out that Pietrus actually did win the bet. When Chris Sheridan of TrueHoops first spoke to him about the bet back in February, he only had two words for him:

“Easy Money.”

$17,000 just to go nine months without a single haircut? I mean who wouldn’t take that offer? I know I would in a heartbeat. Especially since I can very easily go 1-3 months without a haircut myself, and that’s unintentionally.

And as for Pietrus who didn’t even have long hair for almost 20 years, he actually liked his new hair style when the deal was done. Talk about an investment with interest!

Shaq Wants to Become a UFC Fighter?

Some info on Shaq

When you first hear the name Shaq, you think of NBA superstar. He is one of the most dominant players in NBA history and without a doubt in my mind, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. From playing for teams like the Orlando Magic , Los Angeles Lakers, and the Miami Heat, he has managed to grab four championship rings for himself and has acquired a great deal of fame throughout his years playing in the league. Although he is reaching his pinnacle point in his NBA career, there has been much gossip that he wants a shot at the UFC.

Shaq in the UFC?

From the official beginning of the UFC in 1993, the confederation has seen many great fighters enter the arena, such as Tito Ortiz, Chuck Lidell, Matt Hughes, and Randy Couture. They were definitely some of the most impressive combatants to ever come into the organization, but Shaquille O’ Neal?

Where did he get the idea that NBA players simply just turn into UFC fighters right out of the blue?  Then again just take a look at Shaq’s size. He is a little over 7 feet tall and weighs over 320 pounds. You may think he looks big on TV, but imagine taking a glance at him in person and see if you aren’t stunned. His height alone is scary, but combined with his weight makes him a very deadly person to want to brawl against. I mean I don’t know anybody who would even want to get into a conflict with Shaq face to face, unless they were born with brain damage or something. His personality makes up for it though. Wherever you see him he’s usually smiling in a commercial or being humorous with the media and that has helped create a likeable and friendly image for him over the years.

As far as the rumors go, Shaq has had some talk with UFC president Dana White about wanting to get some UFC action and this is what Dana said:

“Shaq texts and Twitters me all the time saying he wants to fight Brock Lesnar. He’s been training for 10 years; Shaq’s probably the only dude in the NBA that can actually fight … I told Shaq, I said listen, ‘Win another NBA championship this year and then we’ll talk next year.”

Shaq vs. Chuck Lidell?

While Shaq anxiously wants to come into the organization, mainly to fight UFC champ Brock Lesnar, there has also been talk that MMA sensation Chuck Lidell is one man that might be up to the challenge to fight him. In terms of advantage, even with Chuck’s experience and tremendous fighting skills I think Shaq would still be the favorite. Not only because of his size and the fact that he would be very hard to bring down, but as Dana White said, he has been training in mixed martial arts for the past 10 years so that means he’s definitely mentally prepared. He mainly trains in the off season to stay fit, but apparently that wasn’t the only reason as you can see. For those of you who don’t think that Shaq is serious, just take a look at this video:

Only time will tell if Shaq’s profound wish comes true. All I can say is if it does, the UFC world will surely be in for a treat!
